Diphyl® flash system with a total output of 20 MW at 360°C supplying process heat to a DMT plant in Germany. This picture was taken at its original plant site of KOSA in Offenbach, Germany. In 2011/2012 this plant has been sold to INDORAMA Ventures and is currently installed and in operation in Rotterdam, Botlek, The Netherlands.

Process heat transfer Thermal fluid systems are key installations in many chemical reactions and process technology flows that require external heating or cooling.

Linde Engineering has over 60 years of experience in building thermal fluid systems. We are committed to continually enhancing our processes and use a wide range of media as thermal fluids including mineral oils, synthetic products, molten salt, water-glycol mixtures, gases, and molten metals.

Liquid media

Mineral oils and synthetic oils are the most commonly used organic media for process heat transfer. The maximum working temperature of synthetic thermal fluids is about 410°C. Systems that use these thermal fluids offer an ideal basis for supplying heat to a wide variety of production processes.

Vaporised media

The use of vaporised thermal fluids (via a flash system or a secondary vaporiser) makes it possible to distribute a steady and constant supply of heat uniformly to several process steps. We deliver plants for a broad spectrum of requirements with capacities ranging from 100 kW to around 45 MW per heater. We can achieve even larger capacities and increase plant availability by combining several units in one battery.

As a dedicated, responsible, turnkey supplier, we deliver technologies offering a number of benefits:

  • No radiant heat reflection as little refractory lining

  • Optimum heat distribution thanks to three-pass design

  • Various firing orientations possible (down-shot, vertically, upwards, horizontal, or in-line)

  • Supply of completely assembled heaters

  • Suitable for various industries
